About Lorna

Lorna Peplow (née Wilkinson) is a writer based in Oxfordshire, though she was born and raised in the Devon countryside. Writing fiction has been her passion since the age of four, when she started composing 'books' in felt-tip pen that her teacher read out to the class. She has a Master's degree (Dist.) in Creative Writing and a PhD in English, and completed the Faber Academy Work in Progress course in 2019. She now works for an academic publisher; her dream is to become a novelist.

Lorna is currently working on two novels: The Witch Hunt is a tale of modern-day teenagers dabbling in witchcraft, drawing on Dartmoor folklore, and is complete at 80,000 words; The Crooked Coin (provisional title) is a historical mystery following a 17th-century yeoman's maid who sets out to prove her master is a murderer, and in doing so uncovers a dark family secret (this is still in the early stages of a first draft).

Outside of writing, she enjoys watching murder mysteries on TV while doing jigsaw puzzles with her excellent husband, singing made-up songs (out-of-tune), running, and dreaming of the day when she can get a rescue dog. She is 31.

Please have a look at her blog page for reviews of books she has read and posts about writing, or her publications page for a list of bits and pieces she's had published. She would also love it if you followed her on Twitter: @LornaPeplow.
